Crossover-models are a trend, and trends are something that BMW wants to keep up with.
In 2008 BMW wants to set a new trend with this eyecatching four-wheel-drive coupé (AWD / xDrive): the X Sport will be the first sportscar with a high seating position.

BMW mixes coupé, off-roader and sportscar into a 4.8 meter long four door crossover. The "all-road" coupé will be an easy sportscar to get in.
The front will have simmilarities to the new 3 series coupé and the rear will have an unusual "horizontally positioned" rear-window.

The market for the new X Sport will be in the US, where AWD is a must! That is where the famous electronic xDrive technology will come in handy, which will be combined with a 7-speed direct transmission.
At the beginning of 2008 the X Sport will enter the market with a 265 HP 3-liter inline-6 petrol engine, and a 286 HP 3-liter diesel engine which will have a dual turbo system, as seen in the 535d (e60/e61). This dual turbo system is called "Registeraufladung" in German. After a while BMW will also put in a 4.4-liter V8 petrol engine which will have about 400 HP and a 3-liter basic-diesel with 231 HP.

The pricetag for the new crossover, which will have a spring chassis and active steering, will start at around 50.000 Euros.
