BMW’s Model Initiative Continues
New models planned for 2006

Entering the 2006 model year, BMW is continuing its full-scale model initiative with the same unlimited momentum. The Company is introducing new models with high-performance and, at the same time, highly efficient engines in nearly all model series. The range of new models and features extends from new entry-level engines in the 3 and 5 Series – the 318i, 318d, and 520d – all the way to the new V8 power units in the 550i and 650i developing 270 kW/ 367 hp together with muscular torque of no less than 490 Nm or 361 lb-ft.

A further highlight is the long-wheelbase version of the BMW 7 Series now available for the first time in the guise of the 730Ld and boasting a very powerful and economical straight-six diesel. The BMW 745d now has an upgraded engine with even more power and torque (242 kW/330 hp and, respectively, 750Nm/553 lb-ft).
New colours, a wide range of new features and attractive M sports packages offer the customer an even wider range of choice in fulfilling his – or her – individual wishes and requests.

BMW’s innovative xDrive all-wheel-drive system helps to meet growing demand for models with all-wheel drive for superior handling and behaviour on the road. Featured not only in the X3 and X5, xDrive offers a supreme standard of driving dynamics, traction and active safety all in one. This technology is featured both in the all-wheel-drive models of the new 3 Series as well as the BMW 5 Series now also comprising the 530xd.

BMW is widely acknowledged as the benchmark in diesel engine technology. Indeed, BMW’s extremely dynamic diesel engines excel through their high standard of power and performance, exemplary running smoothness, and all-round economy. And now BMW is becoming one of the first manufacturers to offer a maintenance-and additive-free particle filter throughout almost its entire range of diesel models.

To reflect its status as the leader in technology, BMW is also introducing BMW Night Vision and BMW High-Beam Assist, two new driver assistance systems further enhancing active safety to an even higher standard than before. Additional innovations now entering series production include special comfort and safety functions incorporated in BMW’s superior DSC Dynamic Stability Control System.
