hmm, i know that the electrical on german cars ain't the greatest, but...

have you checked the voltage output on the alternator, battery

doesn't sound like it might be related the the altenator
all it does is charge the system, if i remember right the alternator only has a pos and neg to it, but not 100% sure on that, have you cheked the wiring on the guage cluster?

Hiya!  Its been a while.

I have a big problem.  I have a flywheel that does not match up with a clutch.  I took the flywheel to a BMW dealer and they showed the tech and said that everything was ok and that it is the right flywheel.  The clutch i have is brand new and where i ordered it from said that the part is correct for that year.  I have no clue witch is wrong.  The clutch is a SACHS KF137 - 02 (clutch kit assy ZFTNA) if that helps.  The flywheel is a dual mass...dats what the guy said and was the only thing that came on the computer at the dealer.  I have a 1984 318i.  Any help is much appreciated and will greatly speed up the process on the conversion! (its the only prob so far  Roll Eyes)

Holy $H!T how you get my flywheel  2funny  Yep thats the one...i found out some more about my flywheel.  It is 228mm dual mass and my clutch kit is one for a 215mm flywheel.  Im having some difficulties finding out what clutches will fit.  The one i do know is the e30 325e.  Any more info will be very helpful. O yea i resufaced my flywheel...the guy at the dealer said that it is not good to resurface the bimmer flywheels.  y i do not know.  but he took the flywheel and showed it to the tech and they said all is well and that the guy that resurfaced it did good.  So if you ever want to resurface ur bmw flywheel...hope that the people are good.  Also what kind of gear oil is used for the 5-spd, and where do i pour it in...i found a place where there is a plastic cap covering a hole...could be it?

what kind of engine swap did you end up deciding with?, m20b25?

what site are you ordering your parts from, or where about you located?

when you got the flywheel resurfaced did the tech make sure that it was balanced, thats the problem i've got now(bastard)

and by 5th spd, do you mean the differential or the transmission?

sorry bout that, yeah as for the fluid

MOBIL 1 ATF synthetic

and for the tranny
you should have a allen key looking bolt on the botton near the driveshaft

as for the fill bolt, should be on the passenger side, same kind of bolt

lemme know if you need some visual help, not 100% sure on location, cause i'm used to working 325i

Sup ery body,

Gonna have a look into them in a couple of mins, now trying to upload some other pics (AC Schnitzer 5 sport and 6 sport)...
Any suggestions on turbo's... can't help you on that one, but I'll have a look around, maybe I can think of something.
Love to see more of your project!

damn nice job, looking good

as for a turbo, look at the t3/t4, good up to about 500 hp, mind you, you should only be trying to push 280/300 max on stock internals

if you need any help with the turbo set up lemme know, i've got all the parts laying around my place
