BMW Kite, METROPOLIT and Isetta 2020 Concept cars at IAA Frankfurt 2005

 [small]Source: IAA Frankfurt 2005 / Text: Ilir Dibrani[/small]

Walking at the IAA in Frankfurt I passed through a hall where there were some
oldtimers.

I have considerable interest in oldtimers, but sometimes I'm more interested in
what the future brings!

In a little corner, with almost no other people, I found a couple of BMW concept
sketches, from 3 students at 2 different universities.

One of them in Saint Petersburg, Russia, the other one in Graz, Austria.

The concepts have been drawn as futuristic cars, which might be your future means .....

So what do you think of these concepts?
Anything you like?

hmm as of right now they really won't suit our market

but i'm kinda liking the sketch on pg 4, but i would be surprised to see bmw produce a car like that

but look at the 1 series kinda geting a little compact

hmm see what your saying, but as the market is going with the gas prices, either the united states is gonna have a depression or cars are jsut gonna keep getting smaller unfortunately

well, to put it honestly, it's about time that the US, Canada and Australia are going to make their cars smaller...
And not just smaller in dimensions, but also 'smaller' in engine-size (especially fuel-consumption and CO2 disposal).
Dunno if the Americans, Canadians and Ozzies here agree with me?

yeah speaking on behalf of north america

i would hope so, as the trend is it seems that all the cars and engines are getting bigger, but luckily there are some advantages, they are starting to develop more fuel efficent vehicles with larger displacements

that's good in one sense, but fuel efficiency here in Europe (and in Asia) means 1 lt per 20 km (that's 56 miles per gallon) or better,
what's fuel efficient in your words? police

8l/100km is about standard for cars here, and diesel perform even better...
I think a standard engine in a car here is 1.6 or 1.8.

And what truck do you drive that it takes 20l/100km? Is that a real truck, or a pickup?

yeah, the old discussion... ppl over here are really bad at the consumption. 4 - 6 L/100km is absolutely realistic.
well, my big one still wants his 18-22 l/100km... remember 1 liter super plus was @ 1.28 euros at my friends station yesterday...
