I had the shift knob come off in my hand on a 3-2 downshift the other day. This is one of those knobs w/ a lighted shift pattern, so it didn't go very far because of the attached wires.  I looked all over for a missing part or set screw, or some mechanism to retain this thing to the shaft. RealOEM doesn't show any locating hardware either. Am I missing something, or is this just a shoddy design ? It looks like a replacement is $100+,  and I've been told there is no repair kit.  Has anyone BTDT and if so, what was your solution?

TIA ,

Hi Tom,
it's a shame that the knob came off, but I've searched around for you a bit, and this is the solution that I came up with:

Get some epoxy (2 step/component), and reconnect the two pieces.
And importantly: let the epoxy dry out for at least a couple of hours (it needs time to harden out, otherwise the know will come off again).

yeah unfortunately with most of the knobs they are pushed on and not screwed on so unfortunately your stuck using epoxy, or you can always change to an aftermarket and tape the stick and screw on the knob that way
