Infra-red technology incorporating a thermal imaging camera for extra safety in
the dark. Driver support and active partner protection in one.
BMW Night Vision provides a new dimension of optical perception when driving at
night. A thermal imaging camera detects human beings, animals and objects in front
of the car before they become visible to the human eye in the headlights. The
image generated by the system is transmitted to the central Control Display within
the car presenting objects detected with increasing brightness as a function of
the heat detected by the camera - and therefore making human beings and animals
particularly conspicuous. |

BMW Motorsport launches BMW 120d for customer racing. Source: BMW Group
Munich, 28th December 2005. BMW Motorsport is extending the range of models
available for customer sport with its latest offer of a race version of the
BMW 120d. The racing kit is expected to cost 95,000 euros when it goes on sale
in March 2006 and is available from BMW Racing Parts.
The 245 bhp racing model was developed by BMW Motorsport and is suited to both
rally racing and endurance events across the globe. Like its production counterpart,

is also coming from BMW Motoren GmbH Steyr in Austria.
BMW is thus perpetuating its customer racing tradition in the year 2006. After
the BMW 320i E46 took both the Manufacturers’ and the Drivers’ title
in the 2005 World Touring Car Championship, next year will see numerous private
teams lining up alongside the BMW national teams to contest the FIA WTCC with
its successor model, the BMW 320si. To date, 114 kits of the E46 series forerunner
have been sold around the world by BMW Racing Parts.

Hamann-Motorsport M5 e60 up to 603HP Source: germancarfans.com
Hamann, by trade a top-class tuning specialist for BMW vehicles, is crowning
its tuning suite for this brand with its latest creation. It is daring to touch
the top model amongst the Bavarian saloons, namely the M5.
The high-revving 5 litre V10 with 507 bhp and 520 Nm is not allowed to show
off the full effects of its power in the series version. But just how fast might
the M5 be able to race? Hamann supplies the answer: 327 km/h, which is achieved
solely by means of Vmax override. For those who are not satisfied with this
and who desire even more power, Hamann offers now a solution. The Laupheim-based
tuner provides the M5 with a sports-kit composed of high-performance headers,
sports metal catalysts, a engine map optimisation and a Vmax-override. The 10-cylinder
engine then produces lordly 603 hp and 574 Nm.
