The history of the Mille Miglia and the history of the BMW brand have been inseparably connected for decades. The roots of this relationship were formed during the classical road races between 1927 and 1957 and the tradition is
still alive today in the annual races for historic vehicles. With the Mille Miglia 2006, the BMW Group Mobile Tradition, the Munich automobile manufacturer’s division for classics is also using a series of vehicles that set new standards in the art of engineering in their time and that are now considered milestones
in the history of the development of automotive engineering. Furthermore, at the start and finish line in Brescia in northern Italy, BMW is presenting a unique specimen fabricated on the occasion of the Mille Miglia 2006, in which the enthusiasm for racing sports from days past is being united with the technical opportunities of today, along with pioneering design perspectives.
The BMW Concept Coupé Mille Miglia 2006 pays homage to the skills, successes and the visions of the motor sports pioneers of the past,
created by its modern successors.

New employment vehicles: BMW gets the Bavarian police ready for the FIFA soccer world championship.
Task forces in the WC-cities Munich and Nuernberg receive 368 vehicles in the 3- and 5-series.

Munich/ Nuernberg. Before the beginning of the FIFA soccer world championship 2006 368 new BMW employment vehicles will enrich the vehicle park of the Bavarian police. The police cars equipped with newest technology are intended for the security forces in the Bavarian WC-cities Munich and Nuernberg. In both cities the Minister of State, Dr. Guenther Beckstein, will introduce the vehicles. In order to optimize the conditions of work of the security forces (in particular during the football WC), the Minister had arranged the acquisition of altogether 508 new employment vehicles. BMW places the biggest part of this new force.
Already in the preparatory phase, the Bayerns can trust the police on the quality and reliability as well as on the modern technology of their new employment vehicles. 35 BMWS 525d Touring and 333 BMWS 320d Touring will facilitate the work for the safety forces in the WC cities Munich and Nuernberg. The police vehicles rolled off the line in Munich and Dingolfing. For the Bavarian police the modernization of the vehicle park is an important component of their security concept for the soccer world championship. The decision, to let supply 368 of the 508 new employment vehicles by BMW, proves the high requirements of the security authorities. |

Individual style now comes in a new expression: the BMW 3 Series Coupé. Offering a brand-new look of all-round elegance, BMW’s two-door coupé sets a new benchmark in terms of elegant looks, value, and comfort.
And at the same time it significantly raises the standard of driving dynamics, the new BMW 3 Series Coupé introducing a truly exceptional power
unit now making its debut in the world market: the first straight-six complete with a twin turbocharger, high-precision fuel injection, and an all-aluminium crankcase.
Through its supreme potential alone, this 225 kW/306 hp power unit in the BMW 335i Coupé ensures a significant increase in torque and acceleration, while keeping fuel economy on the same low level as before.
The other variants of the new BMW 3 Series Coupé entering the
market in September 2006 – the BMW 330i Coupé (200 kW/272 hp),
the BMW 325i Coupé (160 kW/218 hp), and the BMW 330d Coupé
(170 kW/231 hp) – again reflect the principle of BMW Efficient Dynamics in every respect. Further versions of the new two-door model with six- and
four-cylinder power units will round off the model range at a later point in time. |

The first official pictures of BMW's all new 4th generation 3 Series coupé! The design is looking pretty good, especially the rear end, which has a heavier look...
The front looks a lot like the "normal" e90 3 series with m-package. As the guys from Carscoop say, the classy lines of it's predecessors are held, and BMW didn't "Bangle" the car up this time.
The coupé will be offered (at first) with three petrol engines and one diesel engine (all 6 cylinders). The petrol engines are: a 2.5 with 218 HP, a 3.0 with 272 HP and the (earlier featured here) 3.0 biturbo with 306 HP. The diesel engine has a displacement of 3 litres and produces 231 HP. Also the x-drive system will be offered on the coupé, a first time on a 3 series coupé.
