The Concept Car: AC Schnitzer V8 TOPSTER
The basis is the BMW Z4 3.0i, in which however "no stone is left unturned".
The most striking optical feature is the enclosed bodywork, now 13 cm wider,
in colours orange / cream.
The life-giving organ is the upgraded version of the 4941 cc eight cylinder,
four-valve engine from the M5. In conjunction with our technology partner, Schnitzer
the engineers have equipped the TOPSTER with special intake and exhaust camshafts.
The cylinder heads have also been fine-machined, the compression raised to 11.5
: 1 and the control unit is reprogrammed.
To improve the exhaust gas flow, a high performance exhaust system has been developed.
The power plant has had to be re-positioned and the entire oil circuit had to
be optimised, so it was necessary to modify the oil sump and oil pump. Finally,
the air flow was improved. By means of new intake pipes and 2 air filter boxes,
the entire intake tract could be optimised. These modifications have together
resulted in the following performance figures: Power: 331 kW / 450 HP, Max. torque:
520 Nm, 0 - 100 km/h: 4.5 seconds, Top speed: 305 km/h. |

Bayerische Motoren Werke
When BMW (Bayerische Motoren Werke) started in 1928, there where 25 German Car
brands on the market, now this number shrunk to 7.
BMW was founded on the 20th July 1917, when it all started with building plane
engines.
In 1924 there were 2194 employees in the Eisenbach factory, which built the
first Dixi's. This car is pictured on the background, the last dixi's leave
the factory here, so that BMW could take over the company.
Dixi 3/15 DA1
The charm of the DA1 Dixi 3/15 is still clearly recognizable, the last of
these 4831 machines were built more than 60 years ago.
Mechanically, they are practically the same as the Austin Seven, including
the synchronized 3 speed gearbox and an 748 cc engine Dixi 3/15 DA1 Dixi
3/15 DA4.

BMW X3 - Sports Activity Vehicle
BMW is enlarging the highly successful X-family through the addition of a very
dynamic and versatile new vehicle: The new BMW X3 combines the outstanding agility
of a typical BMW with the broad range of practical benefits offered by a Sports
Activity Vehicle (SAV). The BMW X3 is indeed the first premium vehicle of its
kind in the SAV segment below the X5, setting out in the market to conquer roads
and tracks the world over.
The X3 combines the characteristic proportions of a Sports Activity
with both classic and new BMW design elements. The modern design language with
that unique interplay of concave and convex surfaces gives the X3 a youthful,
fresh appearance. Numerous characteristic details, particularly the re-interpretation
of the classic “Hofmeister kick” in the rear side windows, the newly
designed double kidney grille, as well as the front and rear lights underline
the unique position of this special model within the BMW range. Long wheelbase
with short overhangs and the roof line slowly dropping to the rear accentuate
the dynamic character of this Sports Activity even at a standstill. Powerfully
bulged wheel arches and the striking front end, finally, give this newcomer a
strong character full of self-confidence, emphasizing its superior stance in every
situation. |

The New BMW M3 CSL: Intelligent Lightweight Technology and Supreme Driving
Dynamics.
A new sports car now embodies the very core of the BMW brand in its most original
style – the M3 CSL. Taking up the heritage and legendary success of BMW’s
famous lightweight coupés which gained fame in touring car racing back
in the ’70s, the engineers of BMW M have once again created a purist,
thoroughbred sports car consistently designed and built to the highest standard
of excellence.
In recognition of the fact that the weight spiral constantly going up can only
be brought to a halt by radically reducing all moving masses, BMW M’s
engineers, in developing this new car, have turned a thrilling lightweight concept
into reality. For the new BMW M3 CSL is not only more powerful than the already
very dynamic M3, but is also a lot lighter and therefore even more nimble.
In developing the M3 CSL, however, BMW M did not focus on the radical reduction
of weight alone. On the contrary – the task the designers and development
engineers gave themselves was to create a car full of purist driving dynamics,
a car absolutely pure in every respect, down to the very last component. And
the result, finally, is unique, absolutely unmarred driving dynamics and a purist
character.

The BMW M3 CSL thus combines supreme agility with the ultimate driving experience.
With its outstanding power-to-weight ratio of only 3.85 kg/bhp, this new car moves
into an entirely new dimension. So the engineers at BMW M are quite sure that
this sports car is able to break the 8-minute sound barrier on the legendary Northern
Circuit of Nurburgring, the ultimate benchmark in driving dynamics. |
